Humanoid robots in 2026: separate demos from real deployments

A mid-year reality check showed only a handful of humanoid programs with verified factory or warehouse proof.

Early July robotics coverage kept repeating a useful corrective. Viral unit counts for humanoids were running ahead of verified deployments. Technology.org's mid-July roundup stressed that Tesla had not published Optimus production totals, while Figure's BMW pilot and Agility's Digit warehouse work were among the few programs with concrete operational evidence.

## The filter Ask three questions. Who is the customer. How many hours on a live floor. What failed last month.

## Builder takeaway Warehouse tote moves and line-side part loading are the proving grounds, not dance videos. If a vendor cannot name sites and cycle times, you are still watching theater. Robotics buying in 2026 rewards evidence over embodiment hype.
